Teaching at TAFE Queensland Brisbane

TAFE Queensland teachers deliver educational excellence by encouraging and mentoring students to help them succeed in their chosen industry.

Modes of delivery can include training in the classroom or workplace, through distance or online learning, or a combination of delivery modes using a variety of training tools and techniques.

Teachers also contribute to developing training packages in consultation with industry to ensure programs continue to meet contemporary workforce requirements.

Teaching appointments may be made on a full-time or part-time, permanent, temporary or casual basis.

To be eligible to become a TAFE Queensland teacher you must:

  • be able to demonstrate vocational competency at least to the level of the training package being delivered
  • possess current industry skills relevant to the teaching position, and
  • hold either:

  • A TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, OR

  • An approved Diploma or higher level qualification in adult education, OR

  • A TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment with an additional two core units from the TAE40116:

    Either one of the following Language, Literacy and Numeracy units:
    - TAELLN411  Address adult language, literacy and numeracy skills
    - TAELLN401A Address adult language, literacy and numeracy skills

    And one of the following Design and Develop Assessment units:
    - TAEASS502 Design and develop assessment tools
    - TAEASS502A Design and develop assessment tools
    - TAEASS502B Design and develop assessment tools

The above qualification requirements are in line with the Standards for RTOs (2015). All VET educators delivering training products from training packages/accredited courses (excluding TAE delivery), will require the qualifications as outlined above.
