It is essential that students have access to a reliable internet connection to access TAFE Queensland's online learning system Connect and a computer with up-to-date software, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat Reader and Adobe Flash Player. This equipment and software is available for students to use at all TAFE Queensland locations.

Whilst this course is delivered online, students are to undertake 120 hours mandatory vocational placement on-location across the duration of the course in order to successfully complete the qualification. Students who choose a specialisation, must undertake that vocational placement within the specialisation industry ie: physiotherapy specialisation must be undertaken with a physiotherapist. TAFE QLD Brisbane will assist students to obtaining vocational placement, students currently employed in industry are encouraged to undertake the course however it is not essential to be currently employed in industry at this time.

Important Information

The importance of culturally aware and respectful practice
All workers undertaking work in health need foundation knowledge to inform their work with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander clients and co-workers and with clients and co-workers from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. This foundation must be provided and assessed as part of a holistic approach to deliver and assessment of this qualification. Specific guidelines for assessment of this aspect of competency are provided in the Assessment Guidelines for the Health Training Package.


The successful achievement of this qualification requires you to complete 7 core and 9 elective units from the list below. Electives may differ between TAFE Queensland locations and regions.

Payment Plan

If you have difficulty paying the full cost of a course up front you might be eligible for a payment plan. This will allow you to pay for your course in instalments, rather than one upfront payment at the time of enrolment.


The Queensland Government will offset the cost of study for eligible students. You will still need to pay for a portion of your study costs. The amount above is what you will need to pay.

Higher Level Skills Subsidy

You're eligible for the Higher Level Skills Subsidy if you:

  • Are 15 years or older and no longer in school
  • Live in Queensland full time
  • Are an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident, or temporary resident with the necessary visa or work permits
  • And don't currently have (or are enrolled in) a certificate IV or higher level qualification.
  • Other restrictions or eligibility criteria may apply


You are eligible for the concession price of a course if you are eligible for subsidised training, and are listed on an Australian Government Low Income Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card, if you are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, you hold a Department of Veterans' Affairs Pensioner Concession Card, or if you have a disability.
