This course has been designed to progress and advance your developing skills and offers you experience in the exciting world of graphic design, digital arts and visual communications. You’ll expand on your creative talents through practical exercises in design, web design, photography, production, interpretation of briefs, branding, marketing and client/project management. You will have access to commercial-grade photography and drawing/illustration studios and study in laboratories of high-end Mac graphic workstations using industry standard Adobe software; including but not limited to, Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver and InDesign. TAFE Queensland Brisbane has the following selection criteria for this qualification:

  • School leavers must have completed Year 12 or equivalent (pass standard in English and Art) or
  • Have relevant industry experience/employment.
  • Ideally, you will need to have a reasonable working knowledge of the PC Windows or Mac environment. Industry standard is the Mac platform.

Required computer literacy skills include:

  • Being able to logically organise work files in directories or computer files
  • Knowing how to make a file, save a file, and find it again
  • Using the internet to find information, send emails, open and save attachments and pictures
  • Simple text skills -  for example, typing up an assignment with basic formatting and printing it out
  • Resolve minor application problems through the use of the help menu

Resources required

No specific resources are required to successfully complete this course.

It is recommended that students have access to a reliable internet connection to access TAFE Queensland's online learning system Connect and a computer with up-to-date software, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat Reader and Adobe Flash Player. This equipment and software is available for students to use at all TAFE Queensland locations.

You will be provided with a stationery list at Orientation, allowing you to have the required assets to successfully complete this course.

Important Information

VET Student Loans

VET Student Loans are an interest-free loan from the Australian Government that help students pay for their education and training.

TAFE Queensland receives the full loan amount for your course directly from the Government, and you repay your loan through the Australian taxation system once your income reaches a certain threshold.

You are eligible for a VET Student Loan if you:

  • providing a copy of your Senior Secondary Certificate of Education (year 12 certificate); OR

Payment Plan

If you have difficulty paying the full cost of a course up front, or you are not eligible for VET Student Loan, you might be eligible for a payment plan. This will allow you to pay for your course in instalments, rather than one upfront payment at the time of enrolment.

Subsidised

The Queensland Government will offset the cost of study for eligible students. You will still need to pay for a portion of your study costs. The amount above is what you will need to pay.
