Our Diploma of Music Industry is designed to give you a thorough grounding in the business side of the music industry. You will learn about copyright and contracts, marketing and promotion, project management, budgeting and risk analysis, new technologies and computer software, as well as artist and tour management. This program is delivered by experienced and qualified teachers who are actively involved in the music industry. Specialist guest lecturers regularly add their vast industry experience to the delivery team. Your new skills will equip you for a career as a music industry entrepreneur, artist or venue/tour/event manager, licensing or copyright specialist, recording or music publishing company executive or marketing manager, distributor, promoter or wholesale/retail sales manager. Dance to the beat of your own career in the music industry with skills in music and sound production from TAFE Queensland Brisbane. Entry requirements

This qualification has no formal entry criteria, however TAFE Queensland Brisbane has the following selection criteria for this qualification:

  • School leavers must have completed Year 12 or equivalent
  • Non school-leavers are selected according to eligibility and merit, vocational experience, previous study and personal competencies

If you’re under 17 years of age, special enrolment conditions may apply.

Resources required

No specific resources are required to successfully complete this course.

It is recommended that students have access to a reliable internet connection to access TAFE Queensland's online learning system Connect, and a computer with up-to-date software, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat Reader and Adobe Flash Player. This equipment and software is available for students to use at all TAFE Queensland locations.

VET Student Loans

VET Student Loans are an interest-free loan from the Australian Government that help students pay for their education and training.

TAFE Queensland receives the full loan amount for your course directly from the Government, and you repay your loan through the Australian taxation system once your income reaches a certain threshold.

You are eligible for a VET Student Loan if you:

You must demonstrate academic suitability by:

  • providing a copy of your Senior Secondary Certificate of Education (year 12 certificate); OR
  • providing evidence of successful completion of an Australian Qualifications Framework certificate IV or higher qualification (where the language of instruction is English), OR
  • are assessed as a minimum of Exit Level 3 in the Australian Core Skills Framework (ASCF) in both reading and numeracy

Please note that all students enrolling in an accredited course are required to provide a Unique Student Identifier (USI).

Payment Plan

If you have difficulty paying the full cost of a course up front, or you are not eligible for VET Student Loan, you might be eligible for a payment plan. This will allow you to pay for your course in instalments, rather than one upfront payment at the time of enrolment.

Subsidised

The Queensland Government will offset the cost of study for eligible students. You will still need to pay for a portion of your study costs. The amount above is what you will need to pay.
