The Diploma of Screen and Media (Animation & Visual Effects) will help you develop practical and creative skills required for film, television and online video productions. You'll develop skills in a variety of areas including 3D modelling, character design, animation, drawing and design fundamentals, visual storytelling, compositing, motion graphics, motion tracking, green screen, as well as filming and editing.  An emphasis on developing an understanding of the production pipeline process for animation and visual effects for screen productions is a focus of this course. TAFE Queensland Brisbane has the following selection criteria for this qualification:

  • School leavers must have completed Year 12 or equivalent
  • Non school-leavers are selected according to eligibility and merit, vocational experience, previous study and personal competencies.

If you’re under 17 years of age, special enrolment conditions may apply.

VET Student Loans

VET Student Loans are an interest-free loan from the Australian Government that help students pay for their education and training.

TAFE Queensland receives the full loan amount for your course directly from the Government, and you repay your loan through the Australian taxation system once your income reaches a certain threshold.

You are eligible for a VET Student Loan if you:

You must demonstrate academic suitability by:

  • providing a copy of your Senior Secondary Certificate of Education (year 12 certificate); OR
  • providing evidence of successful completion of an Australian Qualifications Framework certificate IV or higher qualification (where the language of instruction is English), OR
  • are assessed as a minimum of Exit Level 3 in the Australian Core Skills Framework (ASCF) in both reading and numeracy

Please note that all students enrolling in an accredited course are required to provide a Unique Student Identifier (USI).

Payment Plan

If you have difficulty paying the full cost of a course up front, or you are not eligible for VET Student Loan, you might be eligible for a payment plan. This will allow you to pay for your course in instalments, rather than one upfront payment at the time of enrolment.

Subsidised

The Queensland Government will offset the cost of study for eligible students. You will still need to pay for a portion of your study costs. The amount above is what you will need to pay.

Higher Level Skills Subsidy

You're eligible for the Higher Level Skills Subsidy if you:

  • Are 15 years or older and no longer in school
  • Live in Queensland full time
  • Are an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident, or temporary resident with the necessary visa or work permits
  • And don't currently have (or are enrolled in) a certificate IV or higher level qualification.
  • Other restrictions or eligibility criteria may apply
