Master the skills of a Chef Patissier with practical training in the fine art of pastries, desserts, breads, chocolate and other baked goods. Students will learn the day-to-day operations of a modern commercial kitchen including food preparation, kitchen management, dessert and pastry production, and the health and safety requirements of running a commercial food outlet. Payment Plan

If you have difficulty paying the full cost of a course up front you might be eligible for a payment plan. This will allow you to pay for your course in instalments, rather than one upfront payment at the time of enrolment.

Subsidised

The Queensland Government will offset the cost of study for eligible students. You will still need to pay for a portion of your study costs. The amount above is what you will need to pay.

Higher Level Skills Subsidy

You're eligible for the Higher Level Skills Subsidy if you:

  • Are 15 years or older and no longer in school
  • Live in Queensland full time
  • Are an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident, or temporary resident with the necessary visa or work permits
  • And don't currently have (or are enrolled in) a certificate IV or higher level qualification.
  • Other restrictions or eligibility criteria may apply

Concession

You are eligible for the concession price of a course if you are eligible for subsidised training, and are listed on an Australian Government Low Income Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card, if you are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, you hold a Department of Veterans' Affairs Pensioner Concession Card, or if you have a disability. Additional costs

Prior to orienation students will be required to purchase a complete uniform kit comprising of a chef hat, two long-sleeved jackets, neckerchief, chef trousers, two aprons and appropriate safety footwear costing approximately $250. Additionally, a full set of tools and equipment costing approximately $250 are required to be purchased by each student. The faculty administration can provide a full list and information on where to purchase these items.

Please note that all students must be appropriately dressed and have the necessary equipment before entering any practical class.

If you want to go on to further study at university, TAFE Queensland has a pathway option to get you there. At the beginning of each semester we host orientation events across our locations so you can meet your teachers and classmates, get to know your campus, and familiarise yourself with your study schedule. We also throw in a bunch of free activities, because... why not? We like to have fun.
