Study Visual Arts and Photography at TAFE Queensland Brisbane

If you want to nurture and grow your inner artist then TAFE Queensland is the place to go. You can earn a nationally accredited certificate or diploma qualification in visual arts or photography. Our teachers know how to teach you the technical aspects of visual arts and help you reach your full potential. As a graduate, you'll be qualified to work as a professional artist, art gallery specialist, art director, illustrator, photographer, graphic designer and more.

This qualification has no formal entry criteria, however TAFE Queensland Brisbane has the following selection criteria for this qualification:

  • School Leavers must have completed Year 10 or equivalent with a Sound Achievement (SA) in English

It is recommended that students have access to a reliable internet connection to access TAFE Queensland's online learning system Connect, and a computer with up-to-date software, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat Reader and Adobe Flash Player. Payment Plan

If you have difficulty paying the full cost of a course up front you might be eligible for a payment plan. This will allow you to pay for your course in instalments, rather than one upfront payment at the time of enrolment.


The Queensland Government will offset the cost of study for eligible students. You will still need to pay for a portion of your study costs. The amount above is what you will need to pay.

Certificate 3 Guarantee

You can receive a subsidy towards one certificate III qualification from a list of subsidised courses.

You're eligible for the Certificate 3 Guarantee if you:

  • Are 15 years or older and no longer in school
  • Living in Queensland full time
  • Are an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident, or temporary resident with the necessary visa or work permits
  • And don't currently have (or are enrolled in) a certificate 3 or higher level qualification.

University pathways

If you want to go on to further study at university, TAFE Queensland has a pathway option to get you there. Recognition of prior learning
