Resources required

It is highly recommended that students have access to a CAD or Gaming quality machine. Minimum specifications can be found here. These specifications are a minimum. Ideally a minimum of Intel I7 machines or equivalent, 12GB Ram, 1Gb dedicated graphics. Windows machines are ideal as Autodesk programs are not available native to Mac (you may use a dual boot system however we will not be able to provide any support in this process and there are known glitches using this arrangement).

Students must also have a laptop computer or tablet capable of internet research and Microsoft Word.

Autodesk programs (Revit & AutoCad) can be downloaded for free as an educational version. Adobe programs and Sketchup are available on campus however it would be beneficial to purchase a personal copy to assist completion of project work.

Diploma portion:

It is recommended that students have access to a reliable internet connection to access TAFE Queensland's online learning system Connect, and a computer with up-to-date software, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat Reader and Adobe Flash Player. This equipment and software is available for students to use at all TAFE Queensland locations.

Bachelor portion:

VET STUDENT LOAN

VET Student Loans are a loan from the Australian Government that help students pay for their education and training.

TAFE Queensland receives the full loan amount for your course directly from the Government, and you repay your loan through the Australian taxation system once your income reaches a certain threshold.

PAYMENT PLAN

If you have difficulty paying the full cost of a course up front you might be eligible for a payment plan. This will allow you to pay for your course in instalments, rather than one upfront payment at the time of enrolment.

HECS-HELP

HECS-HELP is an interest-free loan from the Australian Government that helps you pay for higher education qualifications, such as associate degrees or bachelor degress. TAFE Queensland Brisbane receives the full loan amount for your course directly from the Government, and you repay your loan through the Australian taxation system once your income reaches a certain threshold.

COMMONWEALTH SUPPORTED PLACE

The Australian Government subsidises some students' university fees, which makes the cost for those students much lower.  If you receive the subsidised fee rate you are known as a Commonwealth Supported Student (CSS), or as holding a Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP).

Additional costs

$300 material fees paid at the time of enrolment and is unable to be added to the Vet Student Loan.

All students studying the 206JA.1 Bachelor of Design are required to pay a Student Services Amenities Fee (SSAF).
