Paint a bright future with TAFE

Our Visual Arts pathway provides you with an open and supportive studio environment for you to define and shape your career as a Visual Artist. It begins with hands-on traditional skills and techniques, and develops your understanding of contemporary culture, both historically and theoretically. It explores how contemporary arts interface with digital technologies and expands into cross media, multi-disciplinary visual arts practice. The course has an industry engagement/employment focus and explores different genres of arts practice, art communities, curating, design/commercial opportunities and contemporary visual identities. Our course programs are adapted to your personal strengths and aspirations allowing you to build your skills and understanding of contemporary art and culture, and to develop and maintain a strong practice in the Visual Arts sector.

Upon completion of these programs, you can become a practising artist in a wide range of art, design and culturally-related fields, including gallery exhibitions, arts education, arts administration, curating, exhibition and display design, public art, product design, illustration, and publications. VET STUDENT LOAN

VET Student Loans are a loan from the Australian Government that help students pay for their education and training.

HIGHER LEVEL SKILLS SUBSIDY

  • SUBSIDISED PRICING
    • The Queensland Government will offset the cost of study for eligible students. You will still need to pay for a portion of your study costs. The amount above is what you will need to pay.
  • CONCESSION PRICE
    • You are eligible for the concession price of a course if you are eligible for subsidised training, and are listed on an Australian Government Low Income Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card, if you are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, you hold a Department of Veterans' Affairs Pensioner Concession Card, or if you have a disability. Further information about concessions.

PAYMENT PLAN

If you have difficulty paying the full cost of a course up front, you might be eligible for a payment plan. This will allow you to pay for your course in instalments, rather than one upfront payment at the time of enrolment.

HECS-HELP

HECS-HELP is an interest-free loan from the Australian Government that helps you pay for higher education qualifications, such as associate degrees or bachelor degress. TAFE Queensland Brisbane receives the full loan amount for your course directly from the Government, and you repay your loan through the Australian taxation system once your income reaches a certain threshold.

COMMONWEALTH SUPPORTED PLACE

The Australian Government subsidises some students' university fees, which makes the cost for those students much lower.  If you receive the subsidised fee rate you are known as a Commonwealth Supported Student (CSS), or as holding a Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP).

Additional costs

All students studying a Bachelor of Visual Arts are required to pay a Student Services Amenities Fee (SSAF).

Students can also access a range of print, copy, scan and fax services via MyPrint.
