Planning your success

Learn to research, survey, assess, plan, design, cost and manage landscape projects. This course is industry focused and the assessment is ‘real-world’ design and development of residential, commercial and industrial site projects. You will learn the underlying principles of design, the design process, industry best practice, plant selection and placement, permaculture principles, and learn how to deliver projects using computer aided drawings.

Your studies will be supported by new digital technologies and well-equipped design studios. Our teaching staff are industry professionals with up to date knowledge of current industry trends and members of AILDM. Course details

Study Horticulture and Floristry at TAFE Queensland Brisbane

Studying horticulture and floristry at TAFE Queensland's state-of-the-art facilities opens up so many opportunities working with plants, flowers, vegetables, fruit, turf and even nuts! Horticulture courses will teach you all there is to know about plant care and landscape management, from planting, propagating and irrigating, to pruning, processing and fertilising.

Entry requirements

This qualification has no formal entry criteria however TAFE Queensland Brisbane has the following selection criteria for this qualification;

  • Completion of the Certificate III in Horticulture or 2 years work experience would be advantageous. It would also be advantageous to have a sound knowledge in plant identification.

If you’re under 17 years of age, special enrolment conditions may apply.

It is recommended that students have access to a reliable internet connection to access TAFE Queensland's online learning system Connect, and a computer with up-to-date software, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat Reader and Adobe Flash Player. VET Student Loans

VET Student Loans are an interest-free loan from the Australian Government that help students pay for their education and training.

TAFE Queensland receives the full loan amount for your course directly from the Government, and you repay your loan through the Australian taxation system once your income reaches a certain threshold.

You are eligible for a VET Student Loan if you:

You must demonstrate academic suitability by:

  • providing a copy of your Senior Secondary Certificate of Education (year 12 certificate); OR
  • providing evidence of successful completion of an Australian Qualifications Framework certificate IV or higher qualification (where the language of instruction is English), OR
  • are assessed as a minimum of Exit Level 3 in the Australian Core Skills Framework (ASCF) in both reading and numeracy

Please note that all students enrolling in an accredited course are required to provide a Unique Student Identifier (USI).

Payment Plan

If you have difficulty paying the full cost of a course up front, or you are not eligible for VET Student Loan, you might be eligible for a payment plan. This will allow you to pay for your course in instalments, rather than one upfront payment at the time of enrolment.

Subsidised

The Queensland Government will offset the cost of study for eligible students. You will still need to pay for a portion of your study costs. The amount above is what you will need to pay.
