Study Beauty and Hairdressing at TAFE Queensland Brisbane

TAFE Queensland Brisbane's beauty therapy and hairdressing courses are dedicated to people who have a passion in bringing out the beauty in others. With our qualifications you'll receive hands-on training and learn salon business skills including communicating with clients, demonstrating beauty products, retailing and merchandising.

Entry requirements

This qualification is open to those who have vocational expertise in the hairdressing industry.

Vocational expertise must include a minimum of 2 of the 3 points below:

  • experience as an operator in a commercially run salon for a minimum 2 years
  • provision of cutting, styling and chemical services
  • establishment of a clientele base

If you’re under 17 years of age, special enrolment conditions may apply.

No specific resources are required to successfully complete this course.

It is recommended that students have access to a reliable internet connection to access TAFE Queensland's online learning system Connect, and a computer with up-to-date software, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat Reader and Adobe Flash Player. This equipment and software is available for students to use at all TAFE Queensland locations.

University pathways

If you want to go on to further study at university, TAFE Queensland has a pathway option to get you there. In many cases, completing one of our diplomas will give you a full year of credit towards a degree with one of our partner universities. That means cutting down the amount of time you need to complete your degree, or even enrolling straight into the second year of your university course.

Recognition of prior learning

Fast-track your way to a formal qualification by earning credit for the things you already know. Getting recognition for the skills you've gained from the workplace or previous learning means less study time for you, and getting the paper to prove you're qualified a whole lot sooner.

At the beginning of each semester we host orientation events across our locations so you can meet your teachers and classmates, get to know your campus, and familiarise yourself with your study schedule. We also throw in a bunch of free activities, because... why not? We like to have fun.
