Financial support and student loans

Congratulations! You've decided to take the plunge and start studying. But how will you pay for it? Luckily TAFE Queensland Brisbane has this bit covered.

There are many options available to help pay your fees and living costs while you're studying.

We're here to help

Help with paying fees

These options may be available to reduce the cost of your course fees, or you could pay nothing upfront.

Help with living costs while studying

Here are some options if you need help with ongoing costs while you're studying at TAFE Queensland Brisbane.

Help with living costs while studying

Tax incentives

You may be able to claim a deduction for the costs associated with study as a self-education expense through your tax return. Visit the Australian Taxation Office to see if you can.

Austudy and Youth Allowance

If you're 25 years or older, Austudy can provide financial assistance if you're studying or completing an apprenticeship full-time.

If you're under 25, Youth Allowance can help.

Newstart

If you're unemployed and aged 22 or older, Newstart Allowance can help support your studies as part of your plan to find work.

Abstudy

Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islanders studying at TAFE Queensland can receive assistance through Abstudy. You might also qualify for extra payments for living allowance or to help with the cost of studying.

Pensioner Education Supplement

If you already receive certain Centrelink pensioner payments you are also eligible for the Pensioner Education Supplement or Abstudy Pensioner Education Supplement.

Check out Centrelink for more details.

Australian Apprenticeship Incentive Program

Starting an apprenticeship? This program helps you to buy tools, if you need to move away from home, or you're over 25 years.
