Withdrawals, refunds and transfers

We all change our minds, so if for any reason you find you need to make a course change, the first thing to do is to speak to your teacher. They can advise you on your best options to help you achieve your study and career goals.

Transferring or changing courses

You can transfer to another program during the first two weeks of study. However, if you have completed an assessment, you are unable to transfer or change courses - after all, you have already done a lot of the hard work towards achieving that qualification!

To transfer or change to another course you need to:

  1. Speak with your program coordinator.
  2. Download a Change of Enrolment form and, where applicable, a Refund Application Form.
  3. Complete and sign form/s and either submit the form to our nearest Customer Service Centre OR email scanned forms, including any relevant supporting documentation, directly to CustomerLiaisonTeam.Brisbane@tafe.qld.edu.au

Fees already paid are transferred to the new course and any difference is paid when you transfer.

A processing fee will apply where a refund is payable. If the refund is less than the administration charge, then no refund is given. Materials fees cannot be refunded if already issued.

If you decide you really must change and it's after the two week period, your paid fees will not be transferred and the new course fees will need to be paid upon enrolment.

Deferring study

Sometimes, life and other commitments take priority, so if you have decided to withdraw from your course you will need to:

  1. Speak with your program coordinator.
  2. Contact the Student Service Centre and ask what form you need to complete.
  3. Submit the form to the Student Service Centre.

Staff at the Student Service Centre can advise you if you are eligible for a refund.

Students are liable for all payments for classes commenced, even if they discontinue their enrolment. You cannot drop or modify your enrolment once an assessment has been completed.

Remember - withdrawing from your TAFE Queensland Brisbane course isn't the end of the world - you can come back when you are ready and may be able to take off where you left or use course credits through recognition of prior learning towards your new course!

Do I still have to pay if TAFE Queensland cancels my course?

If TAFE Queensland cancels a government-funded subject or course before it starts, then your fees will be fully refunded.

Refund policy

TAFE Queensland Brisbane has a refund policy, which is available on enrolment for new students. You can view the refund policy here.

To apply for a refund you will need to complete the refund application form (PDF, 39KB). This form is also available from our Student Service Centre.

A processing fee will apply if a refund is payable. If you're not eligible for a refund, TAFE Queensland Brisbane will provide written notification.
